Het is een prachtige loting en fantastisch dat we naar drie topsteden qua basketball cultuur gaan. Cantu is mogelijk de club met de langste traditie. Alle drie de clubs (Cantu, Galatasaray, Panellinios) zijn grotere clubs dan ons. Ondanks dat denk ik niet dat we bij voorbaat kansloos zijn., aldus Marco van den Berg.
De Turkse ploeg Galatasaray speelde drie seizoenen ook tegen de Groningse club voor de toen nog Uleb Cup. Beide wedstrijden waren zogenaamde walk-overs en de Turkse ploeg won zeer eenvoudig. Deze ploeg heeft een gelouterde point guard met Preston Shumpert en een zeer creatieve forward Rancik. Ik ken Rancik en hij komt bij Nymburk vandaan. Destijds in de wedstrijd tussen Oranje en Slowakije sloopte hij Elson. Hij is een speler die ook grote driepunters kan schieten., verteld Marco van den Berg.
